One of my Artist Inspirations
When I first learned about artist, Favianna Rodriguez I was truly blown away... not only with her art, but with her message and how she managed to use her art as a tool for empowerment and progression.
This has always been something I wanted to incorporate and develop in my own works. As a new artist just starting out, Favianna is one of the artists that I look to as I work towards sharing my stories. Through my art, I hope to connect people and cultures and share my experiences from my life and travels. I am inspired by her work and that our art can represent how we see ourselves and reflect that back to others to disrupt stereoytpes. Through our art, we can teach and share our true identity beyond the social constructs of division.
Favianna focuses on many issues such as immigaration, women's issues, globalization and eonomic injustice. She creates beautiful prints that express a humanity and freedom that allows one to question mindsets and confront biases. Favianna is one of my favorites because her art is powerful in its ability to enhance our world and our walls at the same time.
